Is this a hockey league or a skills program?+
No. These are individual pickup hockey games, not a season-long league or practice program. There are no standings or drills.
Does joining the email list reserve a spot?+
No. The email list is free and simply lets you receive announcements when a new run is booked. Once a run date is posted, use the Next Run page to register as a skater or goalie. Skater spots are only confirmed after registration and payment are verified by the organizer.
When are the runs?+
New runs will be announced whenever ice is booked. Days, times and arenas may vary, so join our mailing list to hear about new spots.
Do all skaters get equal ice time?+
Yes. With 20 skaters, each team has two lines of five that alternate on a 90-second buzzer. During the planned 48 minutes of running-clock game time, each line gets 16 shifts (24 minutes of scheduled ice time per skater). Every player gets the same number and length of shifts. The remaining time in the 60-minute ice booking is for warmup and transitions. If a run has fewer than 20 skaters, we'll adjust rotations to keep playing time as equal as possible. Actual puck-in-play time may vary slightly.
Can goalies play for free?+
Yes. Goalies don't count toward the 20-skater limit and register separately. If more than two attend, they'll rotate in goal. We confirm the goalie lineup for each run.
How do skaters pay?+
For an open run, complete the skater registration form first, then e-Transfer $35 to YGHR1718@gmail.com. Include the player name and run date. A spot is confirmed after your registration and payment are verified. If the run is taking waitlist requests, do not send payment until the organizer offers you a spot.
What level and birth years can join?+
We're aiming for 2017- and 2018-born AAA/AA-level players. The goal is to create evenly matched, competitive games. The organizer confirms eligibility.
When should players arrive?+
Please arrive early and ready to skate. Players are divided into teams before ice time begins so the game can start right away.
